BMS showcased during BCS Board meeting

Bellefontaine School Board

The Bellefontaine School Board held its monthly meeting in the Bellefontaine Middle School Library Monday night.

A large crowd attended and enjoyed several student-led events.

BMS Principal Kyle Daring served as the emcee.

Student council members Sloan Stolly, Allie Myers, and Annie Gallaway detailed how their organization works as a liaison between the students and the building administration.

BMS Bug 'n Brew then fixed coffee, tea, or hot chocolate for board members.

The students took orders and prepared the drinks.

The BMS Dazzlers show choir entertained attendees with three choreographed songs. Darcy Neeld is their director.

The board then watched a short video highlighting the various activities middle school students have enjoyed during the '23-'24 school year.

Mrs. Daring also reported that Joan Haushalter donated solar eclipse glasses for all BCS students and staff members.

Finally, each board member was given an assortment of gifts from BMS students.

The board then worked through a short agenda.

In personnel, the board accepted the following resignations:

Karen Rader - intervention specialist

Regilane Nelson - food service worker

Taylor Ruble - educational aide

The following hires were approved:

Meagan Antram - school psychologist

Riley Penhorwood - intervention specialist

Garrett Reinhard - high school chemistry/physics

Jessica Dipple - school nurse (Bellefontaine Intermediate School)

Regilane Nelson - educational aide

Jennifer Cyr and Patricia Elson were approved as home/school tutors.

Kate Furr, Courtney Salyer, Stacia Smith, and Ashley Vicario Holtkamp were approved as substitute teachers.

Hayden Green was hired as the district's electrical operations coordinator.

Lisette Hiatt was approved as an athletic worker.

The following substitute hires were approved:

Michelle Corwin - van driver/bus driver

Darius Durst - custodian

Kimberly Wilgus - food service worker/custodian

In supplementals, Nate Smith was hired as the JV head baseball coach.

The board approved a trip for the BCS Robotics Team to the World Vex competition in Dallas, Texas, on April 24th-May 1st.

Over the weekend, a middle school robotics team along with a high school robotics team advanced to the World competition.

Finally, the board recognized March Seniors of the Month Jalyn Savage and Chris Fogan. They each received an achievement pin and a $15 gift card to Ron’s Pizza.

The next board meeting will be April 15th at 6:30 p.m. in the Bellefontaine Intermediate School Cafeteria.
